World AMR Awareness Week
Posted or Updated on 19 Nov 2025
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) arises when bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites stop responding to the medicines designed to kill them. When this happens, antibiotics and other antimicrobial treatments lose their effectiveness, making infections harder or sometimes impossible to treat. This increases the risk of disease spread, severe illness, and death.
You may notice our staff wearing blue on Wednesday 19th November in support of this.
